RIP 2011. Hello 2012!!

Let’s just kick off 2012 by addressing the pink elephant in the room. New Year Resolutions! How did it go with your 2011 resolutions? I am going to take a shot and say that you were probably about as successful as the rest of the world – which is to say, they probably didn’t get accomplished. Resolutions typically don’t last past February.

2012 gives us a new chance to start again – and a new year is a great time to start! But this time, let’s set ourselves up for success by using SMART goals.

Smart goals are:

Specific – What do YOU want to accomplish?

Measurable – How can you tell when you’ve reached your goal?

Attainable – Set steps you can actually achieve

Realistic – Set yourself up to succeed. If the goal is to be 5’8 and your currently 6’4… probably a bit unrealistic

Time Specific – When will you meet your goal?

Last thing… Only share your goals with people that will positively support you. We all need more “You can” and less “you never will”.

Believe and achieve!! 2012 could be the best year ever!!

  1. I could not agree more! I like to think that a goal can be made at any time, not just new years. My wife and I make monthly goals, usually called a budget…and hold each other accountable for them. My favourite goal was deciding to run at least 3 times a week…just to help me keep my sanity from sitting at a desk all day.
